Puchi Puri Yuushi
|
|
|
Supposedly based
on the "Princess Maker" games, PPY is the story of Yuushi, who is found as
a baby by a knight following a shining light on the battlefield. He raises
her but she never gets past the body of a 10 year old despite being 17 already.
Suddenly an opportunity presents itself - Yuushi is chosen as one of the candidates
to be the Platinum Princess, who controls a magical tiara capable of granting
wishes. Of course, she has to make it there first....

Cutesy animation and humour are
present aplenty in this fantasy-heavy, but none of Gainax's usual weirdness
(if nobody told you, you wouldn't even suspect that this was a Gainax anime,
because it's just so plain). Story is so-so so far after 2 episodes, and simple
and suitable for the kids which form this anime's target audience.
Don't watch this expecting something else and you'll be fine...
Update: Well, can't say I expected anything else, but it's clear after 4
episodes that PPY is a kid's show with a nice happy resolution to every episode,
mainly involving Grenda and Yuushi both learning important lessons toward
maturity. If you haven't watched it yet, Grenda is the bratty princess of
hell who always attempts mischief, but has her plans backfire on her usually.
I pity her sometimes... she tries so hard to be a snob and fails.
PS: Don't ask me why I watch this, I'm trying to figure it out myself. Maybe
I need a break from all those complicated storylines I usually favour.
